Golden Paste | Golden Milk Latte

When it comes to healthy, healing drinks, Turmeric milk (“golden milk”) is tops on the list, given it’s potent anti-inflammatory health benefits. When Hippocrates urged the world to “let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food” in the 4th century A.D., the practice had already been a centerpiece of medicine for thousands of years. Notably, the Ayurvedic tradition of India placed (and continues to place) huge emphasis on the power of a properly constructed diet rich in healing foods.

One of the keystone foods in the Ayurvedic system is, you guessed it, turmeric.Turmeric, or curcuma longa, has a colorful history—both literally and figuratively. It is native to southwest India, where its dietary and medicinal usage thus originated. Turmeric was acknowledged and implemented as a medicine by Ayurvedic practitioners nearly four thousand years ago.

Turmeric is astoundingly effective for treating a huge variety of ailments and conditions, including fevers, infections, obesity, diabetes, cancer, heart disease, neurological issues, emotional imbalances, and skin conditions (long before many of these health issues were even given scientific names and classifications).

In Indian culture, turmeric was (and still is) so closely associated with health maintenance that haldi, a traditional Hindu word for turmeric, actually means “healthy.”

It is my desire that you begin to reap the amazing benefits of turmeric all while enjoying this delicious “haldi” beverage. Who needs Starbucks when you have this amazing drink anytime, day or night.

  2. Add mixed spices and continue to cook and stir on low for 3 minutes, until you have a thick and smooth paste.
  3. Turn off heat and add the coconut oil. Continue to stir until completely smooth.
  4. Adds sweetener and sea moss gel while mixture cools.
  5. Add the mixture to a high powered blender and blend until all of ingredients are nicely incorporated.
  6. Transfer to clean glass jar. Mixture will thicken as it cools. Place lid on jar after mixture has completely cooled. Give a little shake to prevent separation and store in fridge for 2-3 weeks.
Golden Milk Latte
  1. In a small pot on the stove, gently heat the milk over low heat.
  2. Add your golden paste, sweetener, and cacao powder and give it a stir. Continue to stir until all ingredients are mixed well.
  3. Transfer your milk into a blender and blend for 30 seconds. I use my Ninja Blender and it works like a charm. Alternatively you can remove transfer to your mug and whisk vigorously or use a handheld immersion blender to combine.
  4. Pour in your favorite mug and sprinkle with cinnamon. Done and done! Now Enjoy!

Recipe Notes
  • This paste should stay good in the fridge for 2-3 weeks, especially if you use a clean spoon every time you dip into it. I also like to sterilize my jar before using it. To sterilize jar: Pre-heat oven to 200’F. Place clean glass jar, without lid, on oven shelf for 10 minutes. Turn off oven and put lid on jar and leave in oven to cool.
  • Recipe makes approximately 20 ounces of paste.
