Alkaline ChickPea Tofu

Chickpea Tofu has become another staple in my kitchen. Are you looking for a soy free tofu or great egg replacer? This Alkaline Chickpea Tofu is a great substitute in addition to being a healthy and delicious source of protein.

The wonderful thing about this chickpea tofu recipe, apart from the fact that it’s a wonderful soy free alternative to tofu, is that it can be alkaline as well easy on the wallet. I like to add a little liquid aminos to give it a little extra flavor but this can be easily omitted to keep it in line with Dr. Sebi’s nutritional guide ingredients.

Garbanzo bean or chick pea flour is relatively inexpensive and you can make this recipe for a few pennies. Chickpea tofu is extremely versatile. Add it to salads, stir fries, soups. It can be made to taste like anything you desire. One of my favorites is using the chickpea tofu as a egg replacer. The tofu is perfect for a veggie breakfast scramble.  Anywhere you’d normally use tofu, you can replace it with Chickpea tofu.

Instructions
  1. You'll need a small loaf pan or glass dish for this recipe. Line a pan or dish with parchment paper or lightly spray with a non-stick cooking spray. A standard 8 X 4 pan works fine Whisk all of the ingredients together until smooth.
  2. Add all of the ingredients into a small bowl and whisk until the mixture is nice and smooth.
  3. Add the mixture to a medium saucepan and cook on medium to medium-high heat for 8-10 minutes. The mixture must be continuously stirred or whisked. Continue to stir until the mixture is thick and hard to stir. You want to make sure that the chickpea flour is thoroughly cooked.
  4. If the mixture starts to brown or stick turn the stove temperaturn down.
  5. Once the mixture has thickened pour it into your pan or dish. The mixture will start to cool down quickly. Let it cool on the counter 10-15 minutes.
  6. After the mixture has cooled place it in the refrigerator to chill. After an hour the tofu will be ready to use in all of your favorite dishes.
  7. Below you will see how I used the tofu to make mock fried chicken.
