My health journey certainly has had it’s share of ups and downs, and I continue to heal my body from years of unintentional damage and abuse.  However, In spite of the challenges I wouldn’t change a thing! Although, I almost lost my life in 2016; God allowed me the opportunity to regain it in 2017.

Rewind! I didn’t grow up in a health conscious family.  We were the typical Southern family. Fried chicken, ribs, mac n cheese, potato salad, collard greens with lots of fat back, sweet potato pies and peach cobblers compliments of my Aunt. And let’s not even begin to talk about the bacon.

Although, growing up I always had the benefit of home cooked meals they weren’t healthy meals. I grew up with the concept of “Live to Eat” instead of ‘Eat to Live. My choices combined with an incredible amount of stress and my need to be perfect in everything set me up for a health crisis which eventually manifested. I also come from a family of smokers but I’m so happy that this was one habit that I wasn’t interested in.

Don’t get me wrong I am truly grateful for my family and my upbringing but I often wonder how different my life would have been if the principals of good health and proper nutrition were instilled in me at an early age.

When we know better we do better

I truly believe that when we know better we do better. Because of this journey my life has been impacted for the better. I’m not the same person that I was 6 months ago. I don’t have to be sick! I don’t have to die a premature death. I now understand that I control my health and well being.

MY Decision To Change

When I shared my decision to transition to a vegan lifestyle with a friend. I was told that going #vegan is just too extreme. 💚💚🍃🍃

My Response: A $50k hospital bill, surgery, a bacterial infection that turned septic, blood sugar through the roof, nine days in the hospital, 15 days on an infusion pump that ran 24/7, high doses of medication for 25 days going into my system, loosing my hair, almost kidney failure and my premature demise is Extreme! 

That was my portion in 2016. It took me over a year just to start feeling remotely like my old self! I guess I will just have to be EXTREME! As a matter of fact I Thank God for the EXTREME! 

What’s more EXTREME than your life and health?  I’ll wait!

Health Is Wealth

Much like wealth, optimum health is achieved through knowledge, wisdom, discipline and applied principles. Once this knowledge is obtained we can’t negate, gloss over or ignore it.  We can’t act as if it doesn’t exist.  I have learned so much through my personal journey to better health that I have to pay it forward to bless, encourage and inspire others to embrace better health through proper nutrition.

Little did I know that my failing health was guiding me towards a calling and true passion. Thanks to everything I went through my personal testimony of healing and transformation, the knowledge received can be paid forward through to every woman that P.H.A.T Girlz Thrive encounters.

I was certified as a Life Coach in 2012 but was unsure of what to do with it. Until! 🙂 Now I am marrying the two, life coaching + health and wellness. I grateful for being able share,  coach others on healing their body naturally through food and most importantly, teaching others how to listen to their bodies and what it is asking for.

P.H.A.T (Pretty, Healthy and Transformed) Girlz Thrive was created to empower women to take back their life while re-gaining freedom and control over their overall health and wellness. Our mission is to help you become whole body, mind and spirit so you can go from surviving to Thriving.

My goal is to support, educate and coach women like you on your journey as you pursue a healthier lifestyle and overall better quality of life. I am here to help you break the cycle of dieting and destructive unhealthy eating habits by helping you to develop new disciples and paradigms in regards to your health, wellness and overall lifestyle.
